How Handmade Goats Milk Soap Helps Your Skin
Goats milk soap doesn't contain any harsh detergents which can be very irritating to your skin. Once you try goats milk soap, you will never want to go back to regular soap again. It is that good.
Glycerin: The Key to Natural Skin Hydration in Soaps
It is a fact that homemade soap contains the natural by-products of a process known as soap saponification. Saponification is a natural chemical reaction that was discovered in ancient days. Priests sacrificing animals on mountains created a mixed runoff of wood ashes and animal fats. The result was bubbles running down the mountainside after a rain. The women of the village tried it out and noticed it cleaned things better. Soap was born. What occurred on the mountainside during the rain was a chemical reaction of a strong base (lye from wood ashes) with the fatty acids from triglycerides. As a result, the natural moisturizer of nature was born, glycerin.
Glycerin, which is one of the natural by-products of soapmaking, is wonderful at keeping the natural moisture from being stripped away in the skin and craft. Despite this well-known benefit, manufacturers remove the glycerin from their facory-made soap. This is because it is such a valuable commodity in the global economy for the manufacturing of many other products.
Goats Milk Soap Is Almost Exact Same pH Level as Our Skin
PH is important because of the "acid mantle" on our skin. The acid mantle is a highly acidic layer on top of the epidermis that protects us. This acidic layer is produced by the skin's oil glands which, in turn, defend our bodies from bacteria, viruses, and other potential contaminants that might penetrate the skin. Since these outside forces are primarily basic in nature, the skin's acid mantle easily defends us by neutralizing those threats on contact.
From lab tests of pH levels, scientists have discovered that goats milk soap is almost the same acidity as our skins natural pH. It does not overwhelm our skin's natural acidity with a strong base that needs neutralizing, like store soap does. The light acids caprylic, capric, and caproic acids work together in goats milk soap to maintain the perfect pH for human skin and craft.
Skin and craft Problems Will Fade Away
With regular use of goats milk soap, skin and craft problems begin to disappear. In wintertime, this can be seen even more readily. In the dry air, factory-made soap can make our hands terribly dry. What happens is that the natural acids and oils are removed from our skin by the hot water and basic soap, leaving behind dry skin.
Store bought soap is simply not good for your skin. Factory-made soap leaves your skin extremely dried out, taunt feeling, irritated, and even cracked at times. This can be particularly troublesome in the facial area where the skin can appear prematurely older.
Fresh Rejuvenated Skin with Goats Milk Soap
After a while, he pores of our skin begin to over-produce oil in order to rehydrate the dry skin. The pores go into overdrive to overcome the lost pH and the stripped out oils by excreting more oil (also called "sebum") than normal. Many problems begin to flair up such as acne, black heads, and oily craft and skin. These problems can be avoided with regular use of goat's milk soap.
Try Goats Milk Soap & You Will Never Go Back!
Using goats milk soap is really a life changing experience. Once you experience your moisturized skin even in the dead of winter, the smoothness of the alpha hydroxy action, or the beautiful clarity of acne free skin, you will never want to go back to harsh store-bought soap. And that is...No "kid"ding!
